About the Role
Game District is looking for an experienced and creatively driven Art Lead – 3D Generalist to lead the visual development of our mobile games at our Lahore office.
The ideal candidate will combine strong hands-on 3D art expertise with leadership capabilities, ensuring that our games maintain a high-quality, visually appealing, and commercially competitive art style.
This role requires someone who can take ownership of the complete 3D art pipeline, mentor artists, collaborate closely with game designers and developers, and translate creative concepts into polished, optimized, game-ready assets.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and guide the art direction for mobile game projects from concept through production.
Define and maintain the overall visual style, quality bar, and artistic consistency across projects.
Create high-quality 3D characters, environments, props, assets, and game-ready models.
Handle or supervise the complete 3D production pipeline, including:
Modeling
Sculpting
Texturing
UV Mapping
Lighting
Materials and Shaders
Basic Rigging and Animation
Rendering
Asset Optimization
Review artwork produced by the team and provide clear, constructive, and actionable feedback.
Mentor and support 3D artists to improve their technical and artistic capabilities.
Assign, prioritize, and monitor art tasks while ensuring quality standards and production timelines are met.
Collaborate closely with Game Designers, Developers, Animators, UI/UX Artists, Producers, and Product Teams.
Convert concepts, references, and gameplay requirements into engaging visual experiences.
Ensure all 3D assets are optimized for mobile platforms while maintaining strong visual quality.
Establish and improve art workflows, pipelines, naming conventions, and production standards.
Identify artistic or technical risks early and provide practical solutions.
Participate in brainstorming sessions and contribute ideas for characters, environments, themes, gameplay presentation, and visual effects.
Stay updated with current mobile gaming trends, art styles, competitor games, tools, and production techniques.
Support multiple projects when required while maintaining visual consistency and quality.
Experience Requirements
5–8 years of professional experience in 3D art, game art, or a related creative production role.
At least 2 years of experience in a Senior 3D Artist, Lead Artist, or Art Lead role.
Previous experience working in the gaming industry, preferably within mobile gaming.
Proven experience working on games that have been released on the App Store, Google Play, or other gaming platforms.
Hands-on experience creating characters, environments, props, and other game-ready 3D assets from concept through final implementation.
Experience working with Unity-based production pipelines and collaborating with developers and game designers.
Strong experience in optimizing 3D assets for mobile devices, including polygon budgets, texture sizes, materials, draw calls, LODs, and overall performance.
Experience establishing or improving art pipelines, workflows, quality standards, and asset production processes.
Demonstrated experience providing art direction, reviews, feedback, and mentorship to junior and mid-level artists.
Experience working across different art styles, particularly stylized, casual, hyper-casual, realistic, or semi-realistic mobile game art.
Previous experience taking ownership of the visual direction of a game or project from pre-production through launch will be highly preferred.
Required Skills
Strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in 3D modeling, texturing, characters, environments, props, lighting, and game-ready asset creation.
Strong command of industry-standard tools such as:
Blender
Autodesk Maya / 3ds Max
ZBrush
Substance Painter / Substance Designer
Adobe Photoshop
Good understanding of Unity and game-engine-based art production workflows.
Strong understanding of mobile game optimization and technical limitations.
Strong knowledge of composition, color theory, lighting, proportions, materials, form, and visual storytelling.
Ability to work across and adapt to different visual styles depending on the project.
Strong eye for quality, consistency, detail, and overall visual polish.
Strong understanding of the balance between visual quality, production timelines, and technical performance.
Ability to translate creative direction into clear and actionable guidance for the art team.
Strong leadership, communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience working on successful or high-performing mobile games.
Experience managing or mentoring a team of 3D artists.
Understanding of animation, rigging, VFX, shaders, and technical art workflows.
Familiarity with current mobile gaming market trends and top-performing titles.
Experience working in fast-paced and agile game production environments.
Knowledge of AI-assisted art tools and modern content creation workflows would be an advantage.
Experience collaborating with cross-functional and multidisciplinary teams will be considered a plus.
