Senior 2D Artist
About the Role
Game District is looking for a Senior 2D Artist & Game UI Designer with a strong portfolio showcasing game design and mobile game UI/UX work. The ideal candidate should be proficient in Photoshop, Illustrator, Spine, and Unity, with hands-on experience creating visually appealing 2D assets, UI elements, and polished illustrations for mobile games.
Key Responsibilities
Design and produce high-quality 2D artwork for mobile games, including characters, environments, backgrounds, props, UI, and icons.
Create visually appealing game UI and UX designs that ensure usability, readability, and consistency.
Develop concept art, game-ready assets, and polished illustrations aligned with the game’s art direction.
Conduct R&D to explore new visual styles, trends, and techniques for game design.
Ensure consistency in color theory, lighting, composition, perspective, and visual hierarchy.
Prepare and optimize assets for Unity integration and mobile performance (Android & iOS).
Collaborate closely with Game Designers, Developers, Animators, and Producers.
Follow structured art pipelines and production workflows.
Provide mentorship and feedback to junior artists.
Contribute to creative direction and visual development discussions.
Required Qualifications
3–6+ years of experience as a 2D Artist / Game UI Designer in the gaming industry.
Proven portfolio demonstrating game design and UI work.
Proficient in Photoshop, Illustrator, Spine, and Unity.
Strong understanding of Game UI/UX design principles, visual hierarchy, and player experience.
Experience in concept art, character design, environment design, and illustration for mobile games.
Ability to perform R&D for visual development and new art styles.
Knowledge of mobile optimization techniques.
Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
Preferred Skills
Experience in live games / Live Ops.
Familiarity with Figma or other UI/UX tools.
Basic understanding of 2D animation principles.
Experience mentoring or leading small art teams.
Strong problem-solving and research (R&D) skills for creative development.
